N-Ethylhexedrone, also more commonly known as Hexen, N-Ethyl-nor-hexedrone, and NEH, is a synthetic stimulator of the cathinone chemical class. This type of drug is principally an active constituent of the khat plant, and is constituted of a phenethylamine core with an alkyl group attached at the alpha carbon and an oxygen group attached to the beta carbon. These can also be modified in various ways to create hundreds of different compounds.
Those looking to buy N-Ethylhexedrone are typically intending to use it in various research fields as a research chemical. Common areas of research for drugs similar to this include Neuroscience and Forensic Science. They also have heavy use applications in the field of Mass Spectrometry.
More technical information for this chemical substance includes:
- Psychoactive Class: Stimulant
- Chemical Class: Cathinone
- Systematic Name: 2-(ethylamino)-1-phenylhexan-1-one
While the intention of this drug is for research purposes, many have begun buying and selling this substance for recreational purposes. As with many designer drugs around today, there is little scientifically known about the effects N-Ethylhexedrone can have on human subjects. However, some commonly observed effects include stimulation effects, tactile enhancement, appetite suppression, as well as stamina enhancement. Users find themselves to have heightened energy for a period of time after use of this drug. They have also noted having pleasurable spontaneous physical sensations, which have been described as pleasant tingling sensations on various areas of the body.
Among these seemingly pleasant side effects, users have also been noted to have negative effects as well. These include increased blood pressure, increased heart rate, increased perspiration, dehydration, dry mouth, and temporary erectile dysfunction. A number of reports have also cited instances of vasoconstriction and teeth grinding, however the latter has been noted to be less intense in comparison to that caused by the substance MDMA and more similar to that caused by the chemicals a-PHP or NEP.
Some cognitive effects this chemical can cause when used recreationally include thought acceleration, euphoria, and motivation enhancement. Analysis enhancement has also been cited in administration of lower doses and is considered weak in comparison to other similar compounds. However, this compound has also been known to cause effects like disinhibition, time compression, and the even more dangerous compulsive redosing, which could subsequently lead to overdosing in many cases of recreational use.
Because of this increasing recreational use, N-Ethylhexedrone has received quite a bit of legal action in various countries. In the United Kingdom, it is illegal to produce, supply or import this drug under the Psychoactive Substance Act, effective since 2016. Possession, production, and sale of this drug is illegal in Brazil, and the substance has also been classified as an illegal narcotic in Sweden. This went into effect in June 2016.
All products, including N-Ethylhexedrone, are sold as research specimens and are not intended for human consumption under any circumstances. Due to the lack of research in regards to human and other organic specimens, human consumption of this substance is dangerous and should be avoided at all times.
